The Institute Council approved Gender Equality Plan (GEP) on November 7. The aim of the GEP is to promote gender equality through structural changes in the institute to be able to utilize better the human resources in the institute in solving increased issues related to the marine environment, it’s use and management. The GEP includes measures for academic career advancement, for achieving a better balance between work and family, as well as for achieving better gender balance in decision-making bodies. The planned measures are based on the analysis of gender and age structure of the employees, gender pay gap and other statistical parameters. The GEP was adopted for the period of 2019-2023 and will be revised in 2021. It is probably the first GEP in Estonia.
